OCTOBER 5
In early summer of 2017, October 5 completed a two-story whole house remodel. The clients now wanted a single-story home, with greater outdoor space, in the exact same neighborhood. Just around the corner, they purchased a 1950’s single level ranch. However, it was a bit short on space and required a whole-house makeover.
So once again, they called upon October 5’s Design Build Team.
The majority of the interior was removed, which simplified framing modifications, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC upgrades, in addition to new windows and multi-slide doors.
A floor-plan reconfiguration was essential to the new homeowners. The kitchen lacked access from the outdoors and the family and dining rooms. The all-in-one powder/laundry room really was quite odd. October 5 designed a circular-connection between all the rooms.
Walls of natural light, an abundance of storage, a breakfast banquette, and a walk-in pantry were fundamental kitchen requirements.
A generous master suite addition included his and her vanities, a walk-in shower, and a massive walk-in closet with tons of storage.
The home’s front entry was odd and confusing. Back-to-back closet, and repetitive doorways were quite unusual. Removing the closets, and having a single entrance to the hallway, allowed the bedroom doors to be moved further down the hallway, offering each bedroom a sense of lobby and entrance.
It’s always an honor to work with repeat clients. Is there any better compliment, than a client asking, “Can you do it again?”
So, remember, build it once, build it right and make it last a lifetime, That is until the client calls and asks you to do it again.
